HCC LAW ENFORCEMENT RECRUITMENT IN PROGRESS

TRIM DOWN FROM 400-PLUS APPLICANTS TO FIFTY (50)

OUT of 400-plus applicants who have applied to join the Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement Division, only fifty (50) applicants are still left, and it will be trimmed down to thirty (30) as the final required total number of officers needed.

The Law Enforcement Division conducted a fitness test for the fifty (50) intending candidates on the 20th of November 2023 at Lawson Tama field in Honiara as part of the requirement processes to join the HCC Law Enforcement team.

The Acting Mayor and the Chairman of the Law Enforcement Division, Councillor (Cr) Robert Oge explained that after the fitness test, the applicants will go through a written examination paper and then interviews before finalizing the list of the top thirty (30) officers needed for the job.

The Chairman of the Law Enforcement Division, Cr Oge explained that this is part of the recruitment process, which is the first of its kind since 1999.

“Now we have to go through proper processes in seeking competent individuals who will be able to do the job professionally,” the Acting Mayor expressed.

He said this Wednesday 25th of October 2023, the fifty (50) applicants will undergo a written examination paper before undergoing their interviews as this is part of the requirement process of trimming down the number of intakes to the final thirty (30) officers.

“My advice for those of you who are not able to make it this far is to be aware that Honiara City Council will still be needing new Law Enforcement officers in the future, so please listen out on the radio and read newspapers for more information,” he said.

The amendment of the Honiara City Council Act on section 37 which has been replaced by section 55m, made the overhaul provisions to strengthen the enforcement of the city ordinances.

Meanwhile, in this transition period, the recruitment process of Honiara City Council Law Enforcement Division is conducted by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Attorney General Office, and Correctional Service thus thanks for the collaborations which believe will bring about competent officers to work for the city council,” the Deputy and Acting Mayor said.

The shortlisting for the Culture Officer and the Landfilled Supervisor will commence soon.
