SHOP OWNERS URGES TO COMPLY WITH HCC SEVEN METERS BYLAW

The Honiara City Council (HCC) Environmental Health Division again urged all shop owners within its jurisdiction to comply with the seven meters bylaw making sure in front of all their shops is clean, safe, and beautiful in preparation for the coming Pacific Games in November 2023.

In an inclusive segment, Honiara City Council (HCC) Environmental Health Director Derick Willie highlighted that shops begging for the city council to grant them one week before the games to clean up their pavements and repaint buildings should now be serious about doing it.

He urges all the shop owners to control illegal vendors from selling betel nuts and cigarettes in front of their shops and ensures they water flashed all the betel nut stains along their pavements.

“This is to give a new facelift to Honiara City and not only that, but it also definitely beautifies the city during the games and beyond,” Mr. Willie expressed.

These preparations are not only for the games, but they will continue developing for the long run, says HCC Environmental Health Director.

“Honiara City Council Environmental Health officers will be monitoring all shops from east to west to ensure they seriously comply with the seven meters bylaw,” Mr. Willie explained.
