Now that the election of the new Prime Minister was successfully conducted on Thursday 2nd May 2024, the Councilors Elected, City Clerk, and staff of the Honiara City Council commended and thanked the visiting public and Honiara residents for peace and order on election day.
While each citizen has his or her preference for a Prime Minister, it is pleasing to see that we respect our Members of Parliament and the democratic process thus allowing them to elect the new Prime Minister freely.
As it turned out, our people accepted and respected the outcome of the election demonstrating we uphold the pillars of a vibrant democracy, having a free and fair election.
The Council appreciates and thanks all of you for maintaining peace and calmness within Honiara City.
