THE Honiara City Council (HCC) has thanked and acknowledges the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for their generous timely assistance of ten (10) motor bikes from the Jiangmen Province to Honiara City Council.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony on Thursday 9th of February 2023, Honiara City Council Mayor highlighted, “in May 2022, Honiara City Council signed the agreement to established sister relationship with Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province in which this sister relationship HCC had with Jiangmen City is based on mutual friendship and dialogue towards closer relationship and cooperation in various areas.”
The City Mayor expressed that indeed, Honiara City Council was pleased to receive the motor bikes from the People’s Republic of China, knowingly that with such donation of transport logistics will eventually help the Law Enforcement Team, and other employees from other divisions to carry out their duties effectively.
He said Honiara City Council looks forward to further assistance from the Peoples Republic of China to prepare Honiara City to host the Pacific Games 2023.
Therefore, the City Mayor explained Honiara City Council will continue to build strong relationship with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and will continue to work closely with the National Government in making sure the bond we have will always be intact and continue to grow.
Moreover, the Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Li Meng had also highlighted that the sister relationship Honiara City Council had with Jiangmen Province will continue to grow stronger and intact.
His Excellency Li Meng explained, this handover ceremony marks another big step forward for the cooperation between the city of Honiara and the city of Jiangmen.
He said with the donation of motor bikes from Jiangmen Province of China it will surely boost the efficiency of the logistic services of Honiara City Council.
His Excellency Li Meng has expressed a thousand miles of journey starts with one single step, thus now we are working step by step, and so we will accumulate our steps and from there we can make bigger outcomes and tangible benefits for the people.
