Speaking during the Honiara City Council Sine Die Motion in December last year, 2023, Lord Mayor Eddie Kasuteé Siapu thanked the National Government for its support in ensuring the city’s operational services are smoothly running.

Most support was given through the National Hosting Authority (NHA) for activities related to hosting the Pacific Games 2023, says Mayor Cr. Siapu.

Lord Mayor Siapu highlighted that without his hard-working Councillors, City Clerk, and staff, Honiara City Council would not overcome the challenges it faced in the most difficult year, 2023.

“With this budget for the financial year 2024, I believe Honiara City Council will smoothly run its operational services,” the mayor explained in his statement during the Sine Die Motion.

The budget will be funded mostly by internal revenue and the Honiara City Council is also grateful to a few development partners like Australia, New Zealand, the People’s Republic of China, Japan, and the World Bank for supporting some activities and programs.

He uttered that working together is the spirit of building the nation internally and externally in preparation for future generations.
