The first thirty (30) Law Enforcement officers of Honiara City Council (HCC) are currently undergoing induction training facilitated by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) that was commenced on Monday 9th of October 2023 at Rove Police Academy in Honiara.
The induction training will continue for three weeks before graduation on the 27th of October 2023, which is straight after the first thirty cohorts, the second thirty officers will undergo their induction training.
Honiara City Council Deputy Mayor and the Chairman for Law Enforcement Division Councilor (Cr) Robert Oge had acknowledged the National Government for the great privilege that now his officers are in well-guided pieces of training, which is believed will bring about competent officers for the city council.
“It is a milestone for Honiara City Council that for a long period of time, Honiara City did not have such training for the Law Enforcement officers.
“I fully appreciate the National Government through its National Hosting Authority (NHA) that without the Pacific Games 2023, it would have not pushed Honiara City Council to exhaust its avenue that is reaching today,” the Deputy Mayor expressed.
He explained it is because of the amendment of the Honiara City Council Act on section 37 which has been replaced by section 55m, which made the overhaul provisions in strengthening enforcement of city ordinances.
“In this transition period, the recruitment process of Honiara City Council Law Enforcement Division is conducted by RSIPF, Attorney General Office, Correctional Service, and thanks for the collaborations which believed will bring about competent officers to work for the city council,” the Deputy Mayor said.
The Law Enforcement Chairman and Deputy Mayor uttered that it is preparations ahead for the Pacific Games 2023, and as well for the city in the long run.
