The Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor Eddie Kasuteé Siapu has welcomed the delegation from Makira Ulawa Province for their courtesy visitation on 2nd September 2024 at the HCC Chamber.
Mayor Siapu emphasized that it is a great pleasure, and honor to have Premier Stanley Siapu and his delegation in the city. Your presence here marks an important moment of unity, collaboration, and shared purpose between our provinces.
“We recognize the strong ties that bind us as we gather – our shared history, culture, and the challenges and opportunities that shape our future. Your visit is not just a ceremonial gesture; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to work together for the prosperity of our people. The strength of our relationship lies in our mutual respect and collective resolve to advance the welfare of all our communities,” he said.
He highlighted the significant challenges faced – whether in economic development, social progress, or environmental sustainability. I am confident that through cooperation and shared wisdom, we can overcome these obstacles, and create a brighter future for our people.
“The Honiara City Council is the governing body responsible for managing the affairs of Honiara, the capital city of the Solomon Islands. It oversees municipal services, urban planning, public health, and infrastructure development within the city. HCC operates under the Honiara City Act 1999, representing the interests of Honiara’s residents,” he explained.
He expressed to Premier Stanley Siapu and his delegation that as they engage with the Honiara community during their visit, he encourages open dialogue, exchange of ideas, and building relationships that will strengthen their partnership in the coming years.
