The Honiara City Council (HCC) is calling on all residents and visitors to join forces for a citywide cleanup on Friday, 5th July 2024.
This general cleaning is in preparation for the 46th Independence Anniversary celebration, of which a special message to the business houses to observe the 7-meter by-laws starting this week, and onwards. We must stand united to prepare our city for the Independence Day celebration. It is time to celebrate the birth of our country and we must be proud of the day and show support to prepare the city says Deputy Clerk and Chairman of the HCC Independence Sub-Committee Jefferson Patovaki.
This initiative aims to enhance the beauty and cleanliness of Honiara, fostering a healthier environment for everyone.
General call to NGOs and faith-based organizations to assist and support HCC in cleaning the streets of Honiara on both the main street, the highways, and the byways.
Deputy City Clerk Jefferson Patovaki emphasized the importance of community involvement in this endeavor. “Our city’s well-being is a collective responsibility,” he stated. “We urge every resident and visitor to spare a few hours to contribute to this cause. Together, we can make a significant difference.”
Mr. Patovaki stressed the broader impact of the cleanup. “A cleaner city not only boosts our civic pride but also enhances our health and quality of life. Let’s work together to create a cleaner, greener Honiara.”
