Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor Eddie Kasuteé Siapu has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the National Government for its generous donation of three 30-seater buses aimed at enhancing the Council’s transportation services.
This contribution marks a significant step in improving public transportation within Honiara, addressing long-standing challenges faced by the city’s residents.
The Lord Mayor emphasized the positive impact these buses will have on the daily commute of citizens, particularly in alleviating congestion and providing a reliable transport option.
He acknowledged the National Government’s commitment to supporting local infrastructure development and underscored the importance of such collaborations in fostering urban growth and improving the quality of life for Honiara’s population.
Mayor Siapu also highlighted that the new buses will enhance the efficiency of the Council’s operations, enabling better service delivery and more accessible transport routes for all. The addition of these buses is expected to reduce wait times and increase the frequency of services, thereby making public transportation a more viable option for many.
He said there are plans to procure more similar buses in the foreseeable future to support the existing 3 buses to ease public transport service in Honiara.
City Mayor expressed his appreciation for the National Government’s support, optimistic that this initiative would set a precedent for future collaborations aimed at further developing Honiara’s infrastructure and public services.
