The Honiara City Council (HCC) will begin its clean, safe, and green Honiara 2024 and beyond campaign this Friday afternoon, 9th February 2024.
The cleaning-up campaign was agreed upon by the executive members on 1st February 2024.
“HCC Councilors, Heads of Divisions, and staff will be out on the street doing cleanup. This is a voluntary work with heart and passion for a clean, safe, and green Honiara,” said the City Clerk Justus Denni.
He said the cleaning campaign will start this week and continue throughout this year and beyond.
“HCC is reaching out to the national government ministries, state-owned enterprises, private sector companies, churches and faith-based organizations, non-government organizations, development partners, schools, and communities in Honiara to join and support the campaign,” City Clerk uttered.
City Clerk Denni explained that this is a voluntary work campaign. HCC wishes to clarify that communities or groups participating in the campaign must do so as volunteers and do not expect any payment like last year under the National Hosting Authority-funded clean-up.
“The Council will provide litter bags and will collect litter for disposal at the Ranadi Rubbish Dump,” the City Clerk expressed.
He said that HCC kindly appealed to everyone in Honiara and the visiting public to support and participate in this campaign.
