The Honiara City Council has a City Clerk who operates as a Chief Executive.
The person appointed as the City Clerk of the Council has the control of the employees, implementing the city Council’s policy and decisions and coordinating Council operations.
The City Clerk is to oversee the City Council’s operations to ensure the effective, efficient, and economic management of the activities and planning of the Council.
The Appointment of a Chief Executive may vary from the following process:
- Direct appointment by the Honiara City Council, and
- Appointment by the Ministry of Home Affairs as a seconded staff to the Council.
