Cr LYDIA YEO OPENS NEW OFFICE FOR PANATINA WARD 12 WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION

Over the weekend, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, Honiara City Councilor (Cr) Lydia Yeo officially opened her office building for the Panatina Ward 12 Women’s Association to use as their new office and community hall.

This milestone event was attended by association representatives, including the newly elected executive committee members, six-zone chairladies, and 60 group leaders from across the ward.

The inauguration symbolizes Cr Yeo’s commitment to empowering women in her community by providing a dedicated space for the association to conduct meetings, organize events, and foster initiatives that support women and families within Panatina Ward 12.

In her opening remark, Cr Yeo emphasized the importance of women’s leadership and unity in driving positive change, stating, “Women are the backbone of our community. This space will serve as a foundation for collaboration efforts and collective growth for the women of Panatina.”

The ceremony saw the formal election of four executive committee members, who will oversee the association’s activities and guide the newly formed structure. Six chairladies were also elected, representing each of the six zones within Panatina Ward 12, along with 60 group leaders working on the ground to engage with local women, listen to their needs, and implement community-driven projects.

The association is expected to focus on a range of initiatives, including economic empowerment, skills training, and social support programs. Members expressed their gratitude to Cr Lydia Yeo for her dedication to their cause and for providing them with a much-needed space that fosters collaboration and community spirit.

With a formal office and hall now established, the Panatina Ward 12 Women’s Association is well-positioned to strengthen its role in supporting and uplifting women across the ward, marking a promising new chapter for the community.
