MAYOR THANK MEHRD FOR FACILITATING CONSULTATION ON NEW EDUCATION ACT

The Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor Councilor (Cr) Eddie Kasuteé Siapu has sincerely thanked the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) for organizing and facilitating a week-long consultation on the New Education Act.

The consultation commenced from the 3rd to the 6th of September 2024.

This consultation provided a valuable opportunity for Education Providers (EPs) to gain crucial insights and understanding regarding their roles in administering the new legislation.

The mayor acknowledged that the new legislation is a significant step forward in strengthening the education system and ensuring a higher quality of education for students.

The consultation, attended by key stakeholders from various educational institutions, created a platform for open discussions, feedback, and the exchange of ideas on how to effectively implement the new policies.

The HCC, as an important stakeholder in education delivery within the city, values the collaborative approach taken by MEHRD in ensuring that all providers are well-informed and equipped to meet the new standards.

Meanwhile, Lord Mayor emphasized the importance of these kinds of consultations, which allow for a smooth transition and the alignment of goals between the ministry and educational providers.

Lord Mayor Siapu reiterated his commitment to working closely with MEHRD and other education stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the New Education Act.

He praised the Ministry’s dedication to improving education in the Solomon Islands and expressed optimism that the new reforms will lead to long-term positive impacts on the nation’s education sector.
