HCC COUNCILORS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SERIES OF INDUCTION SESSIONS

The Honiara City Council (HCC) Councilors have successfully completed a series of induction sessions facilitated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Induction Program’s first series started on 31st May 2024, whilst the second series is scheduled from 17th June to 20th June 2024 at the Honiara City Council Chamber in Honiara.

In a closing remark from the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councilor (Cr) Clement Terewauri on behalf of Honiara City expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for their exceptional organization and facilitation.

The Deputy Mayor appreciated the unwavering commitment to this initiative which has ensured its success and has greatly enriched their understanding and capabilities.

He acknowledges the national government for the landmark event which marks a significant step toward improving governance and collaboration between government entities.

Cr Terewauri expresses his sincere appreciation to all the presenters from the respective government agencies who have contributed their expertise and insights across various sessions ensuring the councilors are well-equipped to serve the community effectively.

The importance of alignment was emphasized as a cornerstone for cohesive governance and councilors, and the HCC Staff were briefed on the necessity of synchronized efforts across different government ministries and initiatives says the deputy mayor.

He uttered this alignment is expected to streamline operations and enhance the overall impact of council decisions, ensuring that all efforts are directed towards common goals.
The induction sessions were a step towards enhancing the councils’ ability to serve with greater efficiency and responsiveness, says the deputy mayor.

He knew that councilors were now familiar with their roles, responsibilities, and the operational procedures of HCC. The importance of effective municipal management, adherence to protocols, and strategies for enhanced public services. It also emphasized the need for transparent and accountable governance to serve Honiara city better.

Focusing on alignment, connectivity, and service evaluation, the HCC councilors are poised to deliver more effective governance and improved community outcomes, said Deputy Mayor Cr Terewauri.
