The Honiara City Council Election Office has issued an apology to the candidates and voters of Kola Ward in Central Honiara.
This is in regards to the printing error on one of the candidate’s symbol in the ballot papers, which caused Kola voters not been able to vote today.
To rectify the problem, the ballot papers for Kola Ward will be reprinted and will be used for new election.
All formalities and process for the new Election Date for Kola Ward have been done with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the HCC Election office and the new date will be not later than next week.
The new date will be made known to the candidates, voters and the public when it’s confirmed.
Meanwhile, all voters are encouraged to come forward for new elections to cast their ballots.
Those ballots which have been used during the Election today will be regarded as invalid.
However, Polling stations in other Wards have seen a peaceful and smooth elections as City residents came out in numbers to cast their votes.
Printing error is human error. A printing machine can print only what is fed into it. People responsible should be investigated. Waste of time and voters money (bus & taxi fares).
