May 1, 2017 – Honiara, Solomon Islands – The Honiara City Council Education Authority has organized a refresher workshop for Principles, Deputy Principles and Head teachers of HCC schools.
With the theme “Empowering HCC Education School authority leaders to advance in classroom assessment”, it has enable school leaders to see the gaps in school settings and to be able to identify what needs to be done.
Chief Education Officer of HCC Education Authority Wayne Koebule said the refresher workshop is empowering for the school leaders who have attended.
“The purpose of the workshop is to help our school leaders to know the importance of classroom assessments, to look into scheme of work, lesson planning, understand the syllabus, reporting and other important key issues.”
“Also it helps them to have a good preparation before and after class, which in the long run will benefit the school with better performances,” Koebule said.
The participants commended the workshop saying it empowers them to carry out their tasks more efficiently to achieve better outputs.
The Facilitator of the workshop was Tongoua Tabe from NESU
After the training each school leaders will be conducting their own trainings from what they have gained in their respective schools.
Three schools, Illia primary school, Lau valley and Naha schools will be conducting similar trainings and if needed, the Facilitator Tabe will be requested to assist.
