Supervising Mayor Aiwosuga urged public to more careful.

March 14, 2017 – Honiara, Solomon Islands – Supervising Mayor Charles Aiwosuga has made a call to city residence to take extra precautionary measures during this month of bad weather experienced throughout the country.

He said residence have to ensure their drainage systems are clear to avoid rubbish blocking the drainage which can result in flooding within homes.

Also for those living on hills to be on alert for possible landslides.

“It is a reminder to be extra careful where we are living and also to keep our environment clean and safe during rainy season to avoid disease outbreaks and casualties”.

The Supervising Mayor states that City residences and everyone in the Provinces, must always be updated with the weather reports from the Meteorological service.

Meanwhile, Aiwosuga encouraged church groups and individuals who are interested in organizing religious activities in the Council’s field to do so, with the approval from the City Clerk.

“We are in the Lent season and heading towards Easter, and I encourage churches and individuals to continue with the spiritual activities to contribute towards making a good and peaceful environment within the City.

“There are three fields belonging to the Council which any interested church groups who would like to organize their activities or programs can use, but with a written letter to the City Clerk to be approval,” he added.

He calls on everyone to be cooperative in ensuring we have a clean, safe and healthy environment within the City.
