Courtesy Visit: Ramohia meets Mua

August 24,  2016 – Honiara, Solomon Islands – Premier of Malaita Province Peter Ramohia made a courtesy visit to the newly elected Mayor Andrew Mua yesterday.

During the visit, Premier Ramohia congratulated Mua on behalf of the Malaita Provincial Executive, Assembly members and the people of Malaita for his successful election to the highest political office in the Honiara City Council.

“Your election to the office of the Mayor of Honiara City is a reflection of the city’s residents’ support through their elected Councilors and National MPs who voted on their behalf. Your long time acquaintance with City Council Affairs will undoubtedly steer the Council into a new direction, “Premier Ramohia said.

“Honiara hosts our people from all nine provinces and it is a huge task, and I pledge my support to the Honiara City Council. 

“As you’re undoubtedly aware of, Malaita Province would the next host province for next year’s (2017) Premier’s Conference to be held in Auki and we look forward to having your presence amongst us,” he added.

After just two days in the office, Mayor Mua was really honored by the visit and said this maintains the relationship the Council have with Malaita Province.

“It is an honor to have you Premier Ramohia, and I would like to thank you and your delegation for this visit,”

“I want to assure you that my executive and I will work closely with you, and the other eight Provinces in the Country. Honiara City is hosts to all our people from the Provinces and abroad, we will do our best to accommodate our multicultural people,”

Also during the visit, both leaders held discussions on issues and matters which relates to both local governments and maintains that both a willing to assist each other.

Accompanying Premier Ramohia, was the Finance Minister of Malaita Province Hon. Joe Heroau and Deputy Provincial Secretary Robert Wales Feratelia.
